RONAN – Fire crews were battling a structure fire Tuesday afternoon north of the intersection of Beaverhead Lane and Terrace Lake Road.

When Ronan Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene about around 3:30 p.m., flames and smoke had entirely engulfed the apartment and substantial wind blew smoke, obscuring visibility. The firefighters managed to quash most of the flames that were approaching a propane tank located a few feet from the structure by the time Charlo Volunteer Fire Department and Polson Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene.

Details about whether anyone lives in the building or was in the structure at the time of the fire is unknown. Check back for further updates.
