EUGENE, OREGON — Polson native Melinda Owen Withrow had a disappointing finish in a three-way tie for seventh in the pole vault Sunday afternoon at the USA Track and Field Championships.
Landing several inches short of her goal of qualifying for the World Championships in Beijing, Withrow cleared the bar at 14 feet, 5.25 inches, nowhere near the personal best 15 feet, 1 inch that she managed earlier this year. She would have had to finish in the top three Sunday to make the World Championship team.
