POLSON — Painters, sculptors, photographers,  woodworkers, textile artists and other artisans will take possession of the Lake County Courthouse shady lawn for the 44th annual Sandpiper Outdoor Art Festival on Aug. 8. Hours are from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

More than 60 artists are expected, and many are returning vendors. One new exhibitor will be Jil Roberts, who uses the imprints of rhubarb leaves to make garden art.

Carole Carberry and Julie Christopher are co-chairing the event.

St. Andrews Episcopal Church is one of the staples of the festival, Carberry said. The group is planning on serving pulled pork and other homemade treats.

Another food vendor will be the Mission Mountain Grill serving barbecue bratwursts. Dick Bratton will be back too, scooping ice cream cones and selling popcorn.

Several music ensembles will perform throughout the day, “providing a little bit of live entertainment,” Carberry said. “It’s a nice marrying of two events — the art festival and the car show — to bring people downtown.”
