RONAN — Tough teams from all over Western Montana endured the heat Saturday to play a full day of 3-on-3 basketball in the Pioneer Days hoops tournament. In addition to the tourney action, several athletes competed in the free throw and 3-point shooting contests, and scholarships were awarded to two Ronan High School graduates.
Tate Searle won the boys’ free throw contest, while Bethany Sorensen claimed the girls’ title. The boys’ 3-point contest came down to a shoot-off between Searle and Josiah Whitworth, with Whitworth sinking one more than Searle to take the win.
Recent RHS grads Colton McCrae and Kendra Starkel were awarded scholarships; both plan to attend college starting this fall.
