Polson

The Lady Pirates soccer squad beat the Columbia Falls Wildkats, giving them their first conference loss of the year. It was especially sweet since it was Polson’s homecoming week.

Coached by Michael Hewston and Jose Vincente Franco, the Lady Pirates won 2-1 on Sept. 22 in their own house.

It’s been a long time coming, according to Hewston.

“I felt in the end the girls had dropped into a defensive position to hold on to the win. This allowed CFalls to really run up their shots on goal,” Hewston said.

Hannah Kasnitz scored her first goal and her first varsity goal of the year to draw first blood for Polson.

Tiara Duford’s goal in the 60th minute of the match gave the Lady Pirates some breathing room.

“She’s crazy good with that break away,” Hewston commented.

The team had four days rest before traveling to Libby for a match with Lady Loggers on Sept. 26.

Mission ValleyChristian Academy

The Mission Valley Christian Academy coed team has played 560 minutes of soccer this season.

“We have only been behind for four minutes,” said Jess Kittle, MVCA soccer coach.

The two wins this week pushed the MVCA coed team record to 8-0 on the season.

“We really weren’t trying to run the score up in this game (against Summit Prep.) We scored 4 goals in the last 4 minutes of the first half, before I could get some of those players subbed out. In the second half, we only played with 9 players, instead of the normal 11 players,” Kittle said.
