DARBY — The on-fire Charlo football team tried to be cordial guests Friday on Darby’s field but stole the show in the 64-6 trouncing, improving their record to 5-1 on the season.

Darby’s only touchdown came in the first quarter after Charlo had already scored 14 points on a 44-yard run by Jared Doty and Trent Dennison’s 12-yard run. 

The Vikings owned the second quarter, starting with a Michael Delaney pass to Doty that covered 63 yards, a short touchdown pass to Zane Hafliger followed by two touchdowns scored just before the halftime break.

Dennison scored again in the third as did Toby Odum, who ran 28 yards to the endzone.

The only score in the fourth came from Brady Fryberger’s 9-yard run. 

Overall Charlo completed five of 10 two-point conversion attempts.

The Vikings host Noxon Friday night.

Polson

 

WHITEFISH — The Polson Pirates struggled through a painful shutout Friday night in Whitefish as the Bulldogs left their guests on the field after scoring 49 points.

Polson gained only 34 yards on the ground and 67 yards in the air and allowed four turnovers, two fumbles and two interceptions. 

Defensive standouts include senior Wyatt Ducharme and junior Matthew Rensvold with five tackles apiece, while sophomore Hayden Smith had four.

Polson is 1-1 in conference and 2-3 overall, and will host the Butte Central Maroons on Friday.
