Editor,

The Mission Valley Ice Arena Association wishes to thank all those who came out to support us at our first public scoping meeting last Monday. For those of you unable to join us, your support in other ways has been incredibly valuable. A few things to report: We have land already set aside for the Mission Valley Ice Arena Association, to be granted to the organization when we reach 75 percent of our total fundraising goal. Special thanks to Mike Maddy and his development partners at Ridgewater Development. Our total price tag is just over $4 million. This price will include all construction, equipment, and operations for the first year once the facility is completed.

We have a matching challenge. One of our founding donors, local business woman Carmine Mowbray, has generously donated $25,000 for us to use once we match that amount. Let's get the donations coming in, however and whenever able.

We have an anonymous donor who has pledged the last million. That means the association only needs to raise $3 million on our own. Great news all around. We have two separate raffles occurring. The first is for a beautiful ice-themed quilt, made by our own curling expert Suz Rittenhouse. The quilt can be seen at Total Screen Design in Polson, and tickets are available until the day before Thanksgiving. Get yours today. Our second raffle is going to get going very shortly. We will be raffling tickets for a very nice hunting rifle, scope, and a few rounds. More details on this to follow soon. Good luck, all our raffle supporters. Many thanks to all those who attended our first scoping meeting. We all came away from the meeting room feeling very positive and enthusiastic. Your support means so much, and will carry this project through to an exciting finish. More meetings will follow, so feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions you may have. Thank you for your support.
