Editor,

I am against forestry slash cutting and trimming. They are ruining the natural environment, ruining the chipmunk environment. The trees they are planting won’t be able to harvest for 30-40 years. They need to leave it alone and let it grow naturally like they did a long time ago.

I worked in logging harvest trees over 45 years old. They cannot grow if we keep cutting them down. When they left it alone it was logged twice. They used cross cuts and only picked out the ones they could log, and didn’t touch it again until (they) got a hold of it and started slash cutting and ruining the forest. They need to let nature take care of itself and not touch it.

We cannot even get any teepee poles anymore since they started slashing everything down. The forest belongs to the tribe, not to the forestry. They have ruined lots of natural plants that we use and eat, such as a lot of our huckleberry bushes.
