Judge James A. Manley dealt with the following cases Wednesday, Jan. 20:

Jonathan Paul Korman, 23, was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for four years on a revocation.

According to court documents, Korman was convicted of aggravated assault in 2009, and in 2010 had his sentence amended to 20 years in the DOC with 15 suspended. While serving his suspended portion in 2014 Korman violated conditions of his parole and probation by failing to register as a violent offender, using illegal drugs and committing a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief, among other things.

Emery John Smith II, 42, Ronan, withdrew his guilty plea to charges of kidnapping, a felony. Amended information added the charge of felony aggravated assault. The court set his case for trial on March 14 with an omnibus hearing set for Feb. 3.

According to court documents, on Aug. 10, 2015, Smith allegedly would not let the female victim leave a residence by blocking exits and punching, hitting and strangling her. In the following month, the victim began experiencing severe headaches as the result of her injuries, and surgery was required to correct bleeding in her brain.

Keith Baylor, 29, Ronan, pleaded not guilty to criminal endangerment, a felony. An omnibus hearing is set for March 30 with a jury set to start May 2.

According to court documents, on Dec. 7, 2015, Baylor allegedly discharged a firearm into the ground in an attempt to frighten a woman he had threatened in the past.

Isaac Fleming, age and residence unavailable, pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault with a weapon, both felonies; aggravated assault, by accountability, a felony; and aggravated burglary, a felony. An omnibus hearing is set for March 30 with a jury set to start May 2.

According to court documents, on Dec. 13 Fleming fired two shots at a man outside a Pablo residence. The next day he returned, entered the residence, and pointed the gun at the same man. The man tried to take the gun away, and Fleming allegedly hit the man in the head. When Fleming went outside, a female companion of Fleming allegedly used the gun to shoot a woman, who lives at the residence, in the shoulder.

Ronald Melvin Parnell, 32, Ronan, pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of children, both felonies. An omnibus hearing is set for May 4 and a jury trial is set to start June 22.

According to court documents, on Oct. 22, 2015, a probation search was conducted on Parnell’s residence. His cell phone allegedly indicated some drug activity, and a search warrant was obtained for his phone. Officer found numerous photos of girls under the age of 16 and a 9-year-old female; all photos showed them engaged in actual or simulated sexual conduct. 

Scot A. Naslund, 59, Hungry Horse, in a change of plea admitted committing the offense of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. Sentencing is set for March 2.

According to court documents, on Oct. 12, 2015, Naslund was stopped by a Montana Highway Patrol trooper for failing to signal a turn. Five baggies of marijuana and an ounce of methamphetamine were found in Naslund’s vehicle.

Chance Herried, 19, Ronan, had his suspended sentence for charges of criminal endangerment and criminal possession with intent to distribute revoked due to illegal drug use. He was sentenced to two years in the DOC on each of the counts.

 

Judge Deborah Kim Christopher dealt with the following cases Thursday, Jan. 21:

Bryan Yazzie, age and residence unavailable, was sentenced to the DOC for five years with all suspended but 30 days for criminal child endangerment, a felony. 

According to court documents, on March 6, 2014, Yazzie was driving while under the influence of marijuana, methamphetamine and hydrocodone. A child was in the back seat of the car while he was driving.

Dalton Lee Collier, 25, Polson, pleaded not guilty to partner or family member assault, a misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor; resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; and criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. An omnibus hearing is set for March 31. A status conference is set for May 5, and a jury trial is set to begin June 13.

According to court documents, on Jan. 6 Collier was allegedly acting delusional, and threatened to kill a family member while storming erratically around the residence. The family member called 911. Collier went outside, screaming obscenities and saying he needed to cut the power off to the residence because radio frequencies were being put through the power lines to monitor and control his daily activities. Collier refused to comply with officers’ attempts to deescalate the situation, and he was tased and taken into custody. In detention, a half-gram of methamphetamine was found in his pocket. 

Jacob Michael Mitchell, 35, Polson, in a change of plea admitted committing criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. The court found Mitchell guilty. Sentencing is set or March 31.

According to court documents, on March 25, 2015, Mitchell was stopped along Highway 93 because the vehicle’s windows were tinted too darkly. During a search of the vehicle, the Mission Mountain Task Force found a baggie containing methamphetamine and several dangerous drugs in the form of pills.

Inismin Lucetta Auld, 33, Elmo, in a change of plea admitted to an amended charge of criminal endangerment, a felony. The court found her guilty and set sentencing for March 31.

According to court documents, on Sept. 24, 2015, Auld was driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .202. She has three prior DUI convictions.

Corey Mike Kelly, 26, Pablo, admitted violating conditions of probation and had his 2015 deferred sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs revoked. Kelly was sentenced to the DOC for five years with two suspended.
