Editor,

The Arlee senior citizens center needs help. We need people who care about people, especially the elders, and we need dollars to pay for the well drilling and associated plumbing.

Arlee Senior Citizens Center, Inc., has come to a sorry state as our well has dried up. We have about a half dozen active members. It’s “Come to Jesus” time for the little red roof building on the corner of Weissinger Street and the members of the community who established it some 50 years ago.

There is a good core of people who have worked hard to keep the organization alive. There are some very generous individuals and businesses who have come forward to help with some of the funding to pay for a new well. To those we give our heartfelt gratitude for their generosity. Now we need to hear from all the rest of you.

You are on stage, front and center. If this Senior Center is important to the community, please take time to drop a check in the mail to help cover the cost. Even small contributions from many individuals can add up to enough to pay the drilling and plumbing bill.

The Center is a 501-C-3 organization. Everything donated is tax deductible. That’s two pluses! The third plus is you can get a darned good meal at noon three days a week prepared by our dedicated cook, Kelly, and helper, Rochelle. All it takes — direct your feet toward 34532 Weissinger Street where you can get a $10 meal for $5. How can you lose on such a deal?

Here’s a list of what else can be done through the Senior Center, besides eat: Through Lake County Council on Aging, of which we are a part, you can receive Respite Care, Information and Analysis, Transportation, Homemaking Services, monthly Foot Care from a registered nurse, and have your meals delivered to your door.  Please make checks payable to Arlee Seniors, Inc., and mail to P.O. Box 392, Arlee, MT 59821.

The Board of Directors of the Arlee Senior Citizens, Inc. William Samsel, President; Lilie Willison, Vice President; Bette Samsel, Secretary; and Anne Stewart, Treasurer, sincerely thank you for your donation and help in this project.
