News from Mission Valley Aquatics

POLSON — Recently Mission Valley Aquatics and the Lake Monster Swim Team have been awarded two prestigious swimming events.

On Oct. 22 representatives from The Olympic Training Center and a National Team Member who will have competed in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro will visit Mission Valley Aquatics for a one-day series of clinics. The clinic will offer three tracts: one for athletes, one for parents, and one for coaches. The athlete clinic will be held at the pool with demonstrations and coaching from the Olympian. Meanwhile, the parents’ and coaches’ clinics will be held in the meeting rooms of the adjacent Red Lion Hotel and Suites. This event is open to all. You do not need to be a swimmer, coach, or parent to attend. Although the clinics are primarily focused on swimming, this is a great opportunity to meet an Olympian while learning how America’s finest athletes achieve success through the triangular support of parents, coaches and local support offered by the Olympic Training Center.

Even bigger news was delivered on May 20. Polson and Mission Valley Aquatics have been awarded the Montana State Swimming Championships. This three-day event in February of 2017 will bring 400 of the state’s top swimmers to town for three days of elite competition.

“To put this in perspective,” said a Lake Monster’s team official, “the entire Red Lion Hotel sold out in 24 hours as folks scrambled to secure lodging.” Just two days later more than 200 rooms had been booked, and with an expectation of a thousand visitors descending on town February 23-26, hotels, eateries, and local businesses can expect summer-like levels of consumer traffic during the swim championship.

“It’s such an incredible honor to be awarded two major events in such a short period of time,” Coach Randy Folker said. “Polson and Mission Valley Aquatics are quickly becoming the premier swim venue in the region, and so much of the credit needs to be reflected to our fantastic parent group and community volunteers who have been amazing at previous events.” It seems it was only a matter of time before the rest of the state figured out the advantages of utilizing our beautiful facility and local amenities.

Mission Valley Aquatics and The Lake Monster Swim Team will begin accepting sponsorships and advertising applications for each event immediately. There are more than a dozen levels of sponsorship available so businesses large and small can participate to the level they feel best suits their needs.

“Any time we can support local business and our facility at the same time, its a win-win,” said Mission Valley Aquatics Board Member Tana Seeley. “We have a number of great swim partners to thank already — national chains like Red Lion and Subway, local businesses such as West Shore Cabinets and Total Screen Design, and even individual donors (including) Ken and Mavis Caffrey and Jerry Fleming.”
