POLSON — Post-season tournaments are in sight for the Mission Valley Mariners. The team played their last three conference games in the past week and ended season play with a win.

On Wednesday, July 13 the Mariners traveled to Hamilton for a double- header against the Bitterroot Sox. In the first game, the Sox took the lead from the start and never looked back. Bitterroot took the game 11-4.

In the second game of the day, the story was similar for the Mariners. Bitterroot held Mission Valley to one run and won the game by mercy rule in the fifth inning. The Sox won the game 12-1.

The following day the Mariners hosted the Bitterroot Bucs for a double-header. Both teams battled in the first three innings; however, the Bucs found their batting in the fourth inning. The Bucs scored nine runs and held the Mariners the rest of the game. The Bucs won the game 11-1.

Looking to redeem themselves, the Mariners took the field strong in the second game. The score was 0-0 until the Mariners found a rhythm in the third inning scoring five runs. They continued to roll with their batting, scoring another five runs to end the game by mercy rule in the fifth inning. The Mariners took the game 10-1.

On Saturday, July 16 the Mariners hosted Kootenai Valley Rangers for their last double-header conference game of the season. The Rangers stayed close in the first three innings, but the Mariners pulled away in the fourth to win the game 12-5.

Continuing their confidence into the last game of the day, the Mariners scored nine runs in the first inning and didn’t stop. The Mariners won the game by mercy rule 12-2.

The Mariners will travel to Florence on Thursday, July 21 for the start of their District Tournament.
