RONAN — A newborn’s birth is typically one of the most joyous occasions in a parent’s life; a celebration of the start of something new, wonderful, and precious. Sometimes that joy comes in unexpected bunches. So far during July, 16 babies have been born at St. Luke Community Healthcare, and 10 more are expected, according to Annesha Anderson, the Obstetrician supervisor.

In the week of July 10 through 16, nine babies were born, just two short of the average monthly count.

“We just go with the flow,” Anderson said. “It gets pretty crazy here.”

The clinic is set up with three rooms to deliver newborns, with one OB nurse on duty. When, such as this past month, the clinic is extra busy, more nurses are called in to help out. Anderson said that for each mother who comes in, one more nurse is called in.

“We have great staff,” Anderson said.

New nurses gained a lot of valuable experience this past month and Anderson said that it has been fun to be a part of so much activity.

July 2014 and July 2015 had 14 and 12 deliveries respectively.
