Editor,

Part of my personal therapy is writing letters to the editor. I thoroughly enjoy writing. While walking the high school track the other day these thoughts came to me. One thing I have learned in life is that life is just one big lesson after another. So here are my “track-walking thoughts:”

Right now America is being presented with a very important life lesson. It is the lesson of change. There is an overwhelming movement right now for changing our present politics of special interests to a politics of the people, by the people and for the people.

I believe that we are given these personal and collective lessons for good reason. And that good reason is that within each of us is the ability and capacity to respond in ways that create harmony and balance in our lives. Our nation needs this right now. We need leadership that is compatible in character and ability to carry forward this movement for change.

Hillary Clinton is the obvious choice to help move us along, as a nation, sensibly and with effective executive cooperation with both our legislative and judicial branches of government. Our many challenges require dependable political party cohesion. While the Republicans are busy the next few years saving their party it is up to the Democrats to be busy saving our country.

This is our great opportunity for change. We need to heed the warnings and take advantage of the lessons being presented to us right now. We even need to look beyond the Hillary Clinton administration to the continuation of building what her administration will have begun. We should be thankful for this loud cry for change. But our response needs to come from forward thinking, not fear. We need this now, not just for us but for our children, our grandchildren and the future of America.
