Editor,

What is it about the level of anger and dissatisfaction with the way our government is operating that attracts so many people to follow and revere a person like Donald Trump for president? This man tells outright lies in every speech he gives. What is the attraction here? Do we care who our leader is to be? Do we care about the character of our next president? Do we think that change, any change regardless of how dangerous and divisive, is perfectly OK?

If, in all honesty and thoughtful consideration, one looks at the total misrepresentations of the facts and outright lies that Donald Trump spews forth, how can so many people rally behind this guy? This is incredible. This is nuts. This is outrageous. This is deplorable. This is supremely dangerous.

It is my fervent hope, and in trusting the sensibilities of Americans, that on the Nov. 8 “day of reckoning,” good judgment and good sense will return to this great nation of ours. It is my fervent hope that the healthy Democratic party will help the floundering Republican party by voting them out of majority positions and give them the time to regroup, reflect, reorganize and become the GOP once again.

We need two strong parties. It’s like a good marriage where both people are contributing, listening carefully to each other, communicating and ultimately believing that out of two divergent views so often comes a solution much better than either separate point of view.
