Editor,

As I drive over bumpy roads that could have used Mr. Hertz’s support rather than his rejection of State infrastructure improvement bills I am reminded of his recent letter asking you to vote for his like-thinking friends this November.

And I recall Mr. Trump, who is currently at war with the establishment elements of the Republican party, accusing those same people of not doing their jobs, being incompetent and looking out for themselves rather than us. Seems to hold true here.

Calling on terms like preventing federal overreach (his version of that?), lower taxes (his or ours?) and common sense legislation (there is an oxymoron) Trump tries to stir us, as if just using the words supersedes the reality that the devil is in the details. He accuses the opposition of wanting evil things like retaining our environment and wildlife and access for us to its beauty and wonder. I am not sure how, when he later says we need to support our natural resource economy, this isn’t exactly what they propose, but hey, facts are less important than party unity and affiliation. That is what seems to be the what and who Mr. Trump opposes. How can you support Mr. Trump and these people as well?

If we elect those our incumbent supports, can we once again spend tax dollars and legislative efforts on the 123rd and 124th attempts to overturn and repeal Obamacare? Look up Mr. Hertz’s published legislative record of success with the bills he sponsored; doesn’t give one a feeling that we get the best bang for our buck. So I will pass on his endorsement of others.

Someone pretty famous in political circles once asked us to ask ourselves, has our situation today been improved because of the efforts and “leadership” of the current members of our legislature? I know my answer, and it is formed with common sense.
