Editor,

We are witnessing a lot of anger spewing forth these days, especially from those supporting the Republican Party. It often gets rather personal and seems unfair. But in looking behind this anger, it would seem that it is not really an anger at the other person as much as an anger at themselves because of extreme frustration.

I call it “the GOP anger factor.” And it is justified, so they feel the need to lash out at someone. Their party leader happens to be is a man who violates most of the stuff we learned not to do and ways we learned not to think in grade school, high school, and in church. And not only that, but their party is fractured and in disarray. This can be extremely frustrating for a person.

It must be very hard for anyone believing in and hanging onto the good old GOP values to suddenly be faced with the present leader of their party. This can cause real anger and that anger is, right now, being projected out onto those enjoying the unity within the Democratic Party.

The antidote? It seems to me that the only effective antidote is to have understanding and compassion for those spewing forth anger. And then, of course, to make sure that 2017 ushers in a Democratic majority in the Senate and sending Donald back to his own luxurious oval office in Trump Towers.
