Editor,

So now we see Corey Stapleton, Montana’s chief election officer, so concerned about doing the right process, “not the cheapest,” for the upcoming special election?

The fact that the March 23 vote on Senate Bill 305 was suspended proves Montanans demand their representatives to do the right thing: save $500,000-$750,000 through the mail-in vote option. NPR News reported March 24 that voting access would even be available through satellites for Tribal members without home delivery.

No matter what the special election outcome, the state legislature will be saddled with once again slashing critical services to offset this unnecessary and avoidable expense. And that will hurt all of us.
