POLSON – Saturday marked a new era for the Polson Youth Soccer Association (PYSA), as the Polson FC U18 boys’ soccer team christened the new field at the Polson Soccer Complex.

The U18 boys defeated Libby, 8-1, in their first game on the new field. The team also stopped Whitefish, 3-1, in a late afternoon match.

“The new soccer fields were beautiful and ready for the games,” Polson U18 head coach Mike Moll said.

The Polson Soccer Complex is a first-class soccer facility that includes four regulation-sized fields, warm up and tot soccer areas, concession/information and restroom facilities and a large vacant area for parking.

“It’s an amazing new facility for competitive and recreational soccer,” Moll said.

Along with offering local and out-of-area players a first-class sporting experience, the complex offers one of the most beautiful backdrops in the state, panoramic views of the Mission Mountains and Flathead Lake.

Moll stated that the complex will have the ability to host tournaments up to 40 teams, that would mean 600 players and their families visiting Polson in one weekend. That could help the local economy by increasing business for restaurants, hotels and shops.

All though the complex is officially operational, the project is still in need of funding in its final stages. Installing the final section of perimeter fencing, adding equipment for the concession stand and making parking lot improvements are needed to complete the construction of the complex.

If you are interested in helping complete the complex or would like more information you may contact the PYSA at P.O. Box 1337, Polson, MT 59860 or online at http://polsonyouthsoccer.org.
