POLSON – A 37-year-old Finley Point man has been charged with assault with a weapon after allegedly slashing another man across the forehead with a knife.

William James Redwood was charged after Polson Police responded to St. Joseph’s Hospital on April 2 where a man was being treated for a cut.

According to a court document, Redwood and the alleged victim had been drinking with two women most of the day in the Finley Point area.

When they were returning to Polson, a vehicle got a flat tire and the group stopped at a friend’s house to repair it. At that point, an argument broke out between the men and the defendant allegedly slashed the other man with a knife, a court record states. Neither man could remember what they were arguing about.

Redwood had earlier posted a $5,000 bond. He pleaded not guilty in district court on May 17. His jury trial is scheduled for Sept. 18.
