POLSON – A year and a half ago, Karla Gallatin saw an opportunity and decided to take advantage of it. She bought a company and transformed it into Mission Fitness.

“I just didn’t want it to close because I saw that it had great potential,” said Gallatin, who had worked at Polson Fitness for five years as a personal trainer. “I really believe in this place.”

Gallatin purchased the business from Lynette Duford in December 2015.

In March, she remodeled a portion of the interior of the business at 805 Seventh St. E. An office was removed to make way for a spinning, or indoor cycling, studio complete with 13 bikes.

“It’s brought a little extra pizzazz and demographic to the gym,” said manager Angela Hisel, who serves as one of three personal trainers. Gallatin and Kelsie Lindahl are the others.

Hisel said the spinning bikes are a “high-octane kind of workout,” and added that Mission Fitness is the only Polson gym to offer spinning.

The business is also unique in that it offers various live instruction classes, including buti yoga, strength, low-impact strength, iron cardio and “long and lean” classes. Two free 15-minute classes focusing on abdominal muscles and gluts are also available.

The business’ clientele ranges from teens to 80-year-olds, Gallatin said.

“We’re very proud of that because we offer a little something for everyone,” she said. “A person who is 80 can come in here and feel like they’re not going to get hurt,” she said, emphasizing that people can proceed at their own pace.

There is no initiation fee at Mission Fitness, and a number of membership packages are available, ranging from unlimited visits for $80 a month, or $40 for ages 18 and under, to $90 punch cards for 10 visits and $10 day passes.

Seniors can purchase five spinning classes for $40, and those who want “just the basics” with no classes can get a monthly pass for $30.

Mission Fitness has two showers and is known for its extreme cleanliness, Hisel said.

Business hours are 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The business is closed on Sunday.

Mission Fitness will be offering monthly workshops on a variety of topics, including nutrition, “foam rolling,” yoga and body mechanics.
