We are sorry to hear about the bad experience of other non-Native Elmo Powwow visitors. We are two 60-something women who have had nothing but good experiences there. Most recently, we asked a young Native man if he could direct us to someone who could bless a buffalo tooth to send to a very ill friend. The elder was happy to oblige, after explaining to us that we could bless it ourselves. We also were touched when the announcer specifically invited non-Natives to participate in the intertribal dance, something we’d wanted to do for years and which found us dancing with big smiles on our faces.
