Pioneer Days Parade shines

Sugar Coated Pioneer Days parade burst with color

RONAN – The Ronan Pioneer Days Parade was full of Candy Land themed floats this year including bright colors and floating bubbles along with horses and a string of antique cars.

Ronan Police Department Reserve Officer Robert Stentz rolled two antique police cars out of the garage for the parade. He drove a restored 1957 Ford while wearing a vintage uniform, and Ronan Police Chief Ken Weaver drove the 1966 Dodge Burbank.

“I restored both cars here in Ronan and they are 100 percent accurate reproductions of their respective agency’s vehicles,” he said.

He served on the Burbank Police Department in the 1960s. “The 1966 Dodge was the last model I drove while employed there,” he said.

He said the City of Los Angeles has a high regard for his restored 1957 Ford. “It is believed to be the only one in existence,” he said.

Parade results were unavailable as of press time.
