Volleyball

POLSON – Kaelyn Smith had six kills and five digs as the Polson Lady Pirates fell to the Whitefish Bulldogs at home, 25-10, 29-27, 25-13 on Tuesday, Sept. 5th. Kyler Lundeen had 23 digs, while Jaycee Frydenlund added six assists and six digs for the Lady Pirates. Smith had eight kills, while Laurel Bitterman had nine digs and eight assists in a 25-12, 25-17, 25-17 road loss to Libby on Saturday.

PLAINS – The Arlee Scarlets’ volleyball team finished strong to defeat Plains 25-18, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20 on Thursday. For Arlee, Eden Morin led the team with eight aces, 13 kills and 13 digs. Sydney Rodgers had 15 assists, while Ashley Revis ended the night with five blocks. On Saturday, the Scarlets were on the road at St. Regis in Class C action. Arlee swept the Tigers 25-18, 25-12, 25-20. Revis led the Scarlets with 13 kills and four aces in the victory.

NOXON – It took the visiting Charlo Lady Vikings the fifth and final set to put away the Noxon Lady Red Devils 25-9, 24-25, 22-25, 25-14, 15-6 on Thursday. Allie Delaney led the Lady Vikings with two blocks, 34 digs and eight aces, while Kaitlin Cox scored a game-high 22 kills.

RONAN – Ronan Maiden’s Louetta Conko-Camel had eight kills and a game-high 17 digs, while Tiana Ulutoa handed out 15 assists in a losing 25-11, 25-10, 25-22 Northwest A conference match up with visiting Columbia Falls WildKats on Thursday. 

On Friday, the visiting Browning Indians came from behind to take a five-set victory over the Maidens 15-25, 17-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-10. Maidens’ Ulutoa had a team-high 25 digs, 14 assists and five aces in the Northwest A conference loss.

TROY – In Class B action, the Mission Lady Bulldogs were denied an on-the-road victory, falling 25-6, 25-18, 25-22 to Troy on Thursday. For the Lady Bulldogs, Frankie Smith had five digs, two assists and three aces. Both Tristen Adams and Azia Umphrey added two aces apiece for the Lady Bulldogs. The visiting Eureka Lions defeated the Lady Bulldogs 22-25, 15-25, 16-25 on Saturday. Afton Brander had four of the five team blocks, while Sophia Tolbert had four of the five team assists.

 

Soccer

LAUREL – On Friday, the hosting Laurel Locomotives swept both the Polson boys’ and girls’ soccer teams. Although Lady Pirates’ Ashlee Howell scored a pair of goals in the waning moments of the second half, the Laurel ladies handedly defeated the Lady Pirates 4-2. In the boys’ contest, Pirates’ Bridger Wenzel scored both goals for the Polson squad in the 3 -2 loss. The two-time defending Class A Champion Billings Central Rams defeated the Lady Pirates 6-0 on Saturday in Billings. The boys’ squad played to a 0-0 tie with the Rams.

 

Football 

CORVALLIS – Polson Pirates’ quarterback Bo Kelley passed for a touchdown and ran for another in a 37-14 Class A loss at Corvallis on Saturday. Kelley finished with 21 yards rushing on 11 carries and a touchdown, while completing 5 of 25 passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. Senior Kyle Druyvestein had 18 carries and 65 yards on the ground.
