Festival of Trees event continues

Festival of Trees event continues

News from The Mission Valley Youth Foundation

This letter is to inform our faithful supporters of the upcoming changes to our mission and plans for the future. First, there will be a Festival of Trees auction this December. Some people have asked if the Festival of Trees event will cease due to the closure of the Cantlon Family Youth Home. Absolutely not. The Festival of Trees will continue so mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 2.

Although the youth home is closed, we plan to continue the important work of serving youth in the Mission Valley. For continuity, the new board consists of members from both the Cantlon Family Youth Home and members from the Festival of Trees committee. The new name of the organization is The Mission Valley Youth Foundation, dba The Festival of Trees. The sale of the youth home property and the continuation of the Festival of Trees offers us a tremendous opportunity to serve a greater number of youth in our valley. The money from this sale will be used as a seed fund for support of various youthfocused charities and programs in the Mission Valley.

It is our intent to solicit applications from worthy youth programs in the area. However, due to time constraints, this year the board will select specific youth organizations to support and make awards at the Festival of Trees dinner and auction in December. With that being said, we want to hear from our Mission Valley youth-focused non-profits that are interested in receiving funds. Simply send an email to: mvyouthfoundation@gmail.com with your mission statement and a short donation needs request. We also encourage community members to reach out to us with your suggestions of youth organizations you would like to see supported. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 31 and we will notify our recipients the following week.

Thank you all for your past support and continued interest in serving the youth in our beautiful Mission Valley.
