Update on yesterday's pursuit, shooting
The vehicle involved in yesterday’s shooting/pursuit incident has been determined to have been stolen from Billings on Nov. 14. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 34-year-old Alta Littlelight-Threefingers of Crow Agency, Montana. The passenger has been identified as 27-year-old Roishell St. Dennis. St. Dennis is on felony probation out of Billings for offenses of robbery and assault with a weapon, but lists a Missoula address.
To reitterate, a Missoula Police Officer began pursuing the vehicle for a moving violation in Missoula around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 6. Officers pursued the suspects to Lake County where Missoula Officials terminated the pursuit. A short time later, a Flathead Tribal Police Officer observed a northbound vehicle matching the description from the Missoula pursuit, passing in a no-passing zone on U.S. Hwy 93 in the North Valley Creek area. The Tribal Officer then pursued the vehicle followed by additional Tribal, Lake County Sheriff, and St. Ignatius PD personnel.
The pursuit led to graveled side roads east of U.S. Hwy 93 in the St. Ignatius area, northbound to Eagle Pass Trail, in the Ninepipes area. Once on Eagle Pass trail, St. Dennis fired shots at pursuing officers. It is also believed that Littlelight-Threefingers presented a firearm. When the vehicle abruptly stopped east of Allard Road on Eagle Pass Trail, return shots were fired by law enforcement, which resulted in St. Dennis and Littlelight-Threefingers surrendering and then being taken into custody. No one was injured in this incident.
The women are currently in Lake County Jail while the investigation continues into what charges are appropriate. Flathead County Sheriff's Office was requested to conduct investigation into the matter due to the fact that local law enforcement fired shots at the suspects.
