Two women arrested following chase, shootout

A shootout between two women and police on Eagle Pass Trail east of U.S. 93 and Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge last week resulted in no injuries, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Alta Littlelight-Threefingers, 34, of Crow Agency, and Roishell St. Dennis, 27, of Missoula, were taken into custody on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Littlelight-Threefingers was being held on suspicion of criminal endangerment and assault with a weapon, while St. Dennis has pending charges of assault with a weapon, attempted deliberate homicide and a probation violation. The latter is from Billings for robbery and assault with a weapon, according to an LCSO press release.

The women were initially pursued by a Missoula Police officer related to a moving violation around 11:30 a.m. Dec. 6, the release states. Officers pursued the women in a vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen from Billings on Nov. 14, north to the Lake County line. A short time later, a Flathead Tribal police officer observed a vehicle matching the description from the earlier pursuit, a 2003 Ford Taurus that had been sprayed painted black, passing in a no-passing zone. That officer and others from LCSO, tribal and St. Ignatius police pursued the vehicle.

The pursuit ensued on gravel roads east of U.S. Highway 93 in the St. Ignatius area north to Eagle Pass Trail.

St. Dennis fired shots at officers, the release states. Police also believe Littlelight-Threefingers had a gun.

When the vehicle the women were in stopped abruptly east of Allard Road, law enforcement officers fired shots and the women surrendered.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation.
