RONAN – Yelling, cheers and applause created a chaotic atmosphere Friday night at the Ronan Community Center during the second annual Ronan spring sports dodgeball tournament.
The tournament is a fundraiser for the Ronan High School spring sports programs. This year a record 24 teams signed up, generating more than $2,400 for the Chiefs’ and Maidens’ track and field, softball and tennis programs.
“Overall the tournament went great,” event organizer Brian Labbe said. “We had a great turn out for only our second year - which shows how supportive our community is.”
Due to the larger than anticipated team turnout, two games had to be played simultaneously side by side in the gym.
“I was a little nervous with the set up of two courts going at a time,” Labbe said. “We didn’t have any major issue and it gave the audience a chance to work on their dodging skills as well.”
The Dodge Fathers won this year’s big trophy and bragging rights followed by last year’s champions Low Expectations and claiming third place was the team from the Ronan fire department.
“We would like to thank all the community members who came and supported our programs,” Labbe said.
