BIGFORK – Bigfork got the ball rolling, or rather bouncing, on the valley’s 3-on-3 basketball season during the Battle in the Bay tournament, which was organized by Mission Valley 3-on-3.

“We had a record turnout and it looks like a record number of fans too,” tournament organizer Steve Woll said.

More than 500 players from over 130 teams battled on 21 courts during Saturday’s family-friendly tournament which showcased some competitive basketball action between players of all ages and skill levels.

Trophies where awarded to the top teams in each of the thirteen divisions.

While the 3-on-3 games were the highlighted event, athletes also had the opportunity to show off their skills and give hoop enthusiasts a show during the free throw and three-point shooting contests. The event featured a slam dunk contest on basketball hoops set at heights of six, eight and nine feet.

Polson will play host to the Flathead Lake 3-on-3 tournament on July 28-29 followed by the Ronan hosted event on Aug. 4 during Pioneer Days.
