Polson City Commission swears in new police officer

POLSON—The police department added a new officer to its ranks last week. Police officer Dylan Moll was sworn in at the Aug. 6 commission meeting. Moll attended Polson High School and earned a degree in criminal justice from Flathead Valley Community College, where he was student body president.
“You’re one of ours and I really appreciate you going out, getting your education, and coming back,” Mayor Paul Briney said. “I thank you for serving the city.”
In other commission business, the commission unanimously approved an amendment to the contract for construction at the Polson airport. The city terminated the contract that it had with Bjorn Johnson Construction, and another company completed the project on July 26. Pay was withheld from Bjorn Johnson Construction for failure to complete the project. Those funds will be used to compensate the company that finished the work.
In other business, commissioners expressed their support for a partnership between the Polson Redevelopment Agency, the Greater Polson Community Foundation, and the Lake County Community Development Corporation to hire a specialist to facilitate economic development matters related to the Tax Incremental Fund district. The specialist will be paid $10,000 from the TIF funds, and Greater Polson Community Foundation is expected to contribute $10,000 to their salary. LCCDC will hire and oversee the economic development specialist, with additional oversight from GPCF and city staff. Commissioners gave verbal approval of the agreement, and will vote to approve or deny the final agreement as part of the city’s budget.
