POLSON — The grass may be greener on the other side but at least you don’t have to mow it.
When Hal Lanier is not driving the Council on Aging medi-van, taking passengers to Kalispell or Missoula, he can be found on Tuesday afternoons tearing up the lanes at senior bowling where he records some impressive scores. High honors however, went to Don Young with a 241 game, Keith Ross with a 633 series and Jesse Barry with 760 handicap series. Cris Alter, being Cris, swept the three for the women with scores of 266 (game), 758 (series), and 773 (handicap series).
It is with sadness that we note the unexpected passing of Joe Gencarelli after a brief illness. Besides serving as the Polson Senior Center president for the last few years, he was one of the AARP volunteer tax preparers, traveling to Ronan and St. Ignatius. Joe, confined to a power wheelchair for years with MS, was one of the most upbeat people you could hope to meet. He will be sorely missed.
On Saturday, Oct. 20, Gracie Schumacher celebrated her 100th birthday at our Polson Senior Center. Gracie has always been a great supporter of our center as was Ed before his passing.
