A Polson man who was busted for possessing methamphetamine three times was committed to the Montana Department of corrections for five years, with none of that time suspended, at District Court in Polson on Oct. 31.

According to charging documents, on June 10, 2017, Robin Wade Hundahl, 54, was the subject of a traffic stop for displaying expired tags on his vehicle’s license plate. After a brief attempt at eluding law enforcement, Hundahl was stopped at the Walmart parking lot in Polson. A search of the vehicle Hundahl was driving turned up a lunchbox containing methamphetamine and money.

Hundahl denied the meth was his but claimed the cash. He signed a plea agreement on Oct. 31, 2017, that resulted in a three-year suspended sentence to run concurrent to another sentence out of South Dakota.

Following leads on possible drug activity, authorities obtained a search warrant for Hundahl’s Polson residence on March 10. Inside the residence, authorities say they found large knives, biker-gang related items, drug paraphernalia, marijuana and five grams of methamphetamine.

Hundahl got busted again during a probation search on June 15. In exchange for his guilty plea on the most recent case in October, Lake County Chief Deputy Attorney James Lapotka agreed to dismiss the first two charges at sentencing. District Judge James Manley presided over the case. Hundahl was represented by Ashley Morigeau with the Lake County public defenders office.
