We are now into our second year of our NASA @My Library Grant and we have three exciting space-themed programs coming up. On Nov. 24 Bryce Penta will call in to talk about Phytoplankton from Space. On Nov. 26 at 12:45 p.m. join us in our meeting room for the Mars InSight Landing Watch Party. Then on Dec. 1 Dr. Ken Stedman will call in to discuss Viruses in Extreme Environments. We are able to offer the call-in programs in coordination with the Oregon Museum of Nature and Science; check our website and Facebook page for times.

On Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m., we cap off this year’s National Endowment for the Arts’ Big Read with a showing of the film Worlds of Ursula K. LeGuin in the library meeting room. LeGuin was the featured author for this year’s Big Read and is best known for groundbreaking science fiction and fantasy works. This documentary by Arwen Curry features her work. Popcorn will be provided.

Heather is going back to basics with her class, “Computer Basics, Part I” on Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. If you are just learning how to use a computer or need a refresher, call the library to reserve your spot.

On Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. join us for a Vintage Christmas adult coloring program. Our adult coloring programs are a great way to relax during all of the stress of the holidays. Coloring supplies and refreshments are provided.

This year we are hosting a classic Christmas movie series in December. We have selected three holiday movies that are sure to get you in the spirit. Join us at 2 p.m. in our meeting room for “White Christmas” on Dec. 4, “Christmas in Connecticut” on Dec. 11, and the newer classic, “A Christmas Story” on Dec. 18. Popcorn and other holiday treats will be provided. Please join us.

If you’ve stopped into the library recently you may have seen a new face. Lizzy Jore joined us in October as a public services librarian. Lizzy is a wonderful addition to our team – be sure to say hi if you see her around town filling our Book Nooks.

The library is open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. We are closed on Nov. 22 for Thanksgiving.

Visit our website at: www.northlakecountylibrary.org, our Facebook page, and check the calendar section for updates on the happenings at the library.
