Festival of Trees benefits valley youth

POLSON – Christmas trees, wreaths and holiday packages were on display at the KwaTaqNuk conference and banquet center this past weekend during the annual Mission Valley Festival of Trees.

The festival opened Friday evening with a public viewing, which included a hot coco bar and a special visit from jolly old St. Nicholas. The Mission Valley Youth Foundation hosts the annual event as a fundraiser to benefit local youth organizations throughout the Mission Valley.

On Saturday evening, the glamorous gala event continued with a dinner and featured a live auction of more than 25 decorated Christmas trees, designer wreaths and holiday packages. Following the auction, the 200 guests danced the night away to the music by “JIMnI.”

“This was one of the best festivals that I can remember,” said Brooke Ingram, president of Mission Valley Youth Foundation. “The support was outstanding. The evening was alive with community spirit.”

This year’s proceeds, which totaled more than $20,000, will go to the Boys and Girl’s Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County, CASA, Friends Forever Mentoring, Mission Valley American Softball Association, Mission Valley Ice Arena Association, Mission Valley Mariners, Polson Booster Club, Polson Middle School Javelin Program and Polson Youth Soccer Association.

In an online post on Sunday afternoon, event organizers thanked all the bidders for their generosity and were appreciative and grateful for all the sponsors and volunteers who supported the festival through their gifts of treasure, time and talent.
