POLSON – One hundred plus marathoners competed in the Sorry ‘Bout That half marathon on Saturday afternoon and braved 13.1 miles in mid 20-degree-temperatures with ice-covered uneven surfaces along the trail.

The Polson Running group organized the race for the sixth year to provide runners with an opportunity to get out and enjoy the winter weather. And if people weren’t happy for any reason, the organizers used the phrase “Sorry ‘bout that” in honor of the race name. Race participants couldn’t resist saying the phrase as they moved around each other on the course. The scenic race started and finished at the Mission Valley Aquatic Center. Runners trekked under cloudy skies along the back roads of Polson and into the slippery side streets.

This year’s top male and female racers were both Polson residents. Jason “Ebenezer” Delaney crossed the frosty finish line with the fastest time this year with a time of 1:20:30, according to posted results. It was Delaney’s fourth Sorry ‘Bout That race victory, although he didn’t take first place last year. Michael LaForest, last year’s winner, finished second with a time of 1:24:04. Austin Allen finished third with a time of 1:24:58.

Jenni Brown was the first female finisher with a time of 1:45:22. She finished last year’s race in second place. Jill Pennington took second with a clocked time of 1:46:16. Third place finisher Brittney Uecker posted a time of 1:46:22.
