Softball

Polson Lady Pirates

The visiting Class AA Glacier Wolf Pack held the Polson Lady Pirates to just two runs on seven hits in a 10-2 win over Polson on Tuesday, April 30. Lady Pirates Katelyne Druyvestein and Lexi Orien each had an RBI in the game.

On the road Thursday, the Lady Pirates won a 19-1 four-inning mercy rule game against the Class AA Flathead Bravettes. The bats for the Lady Pirates came alive in the fourth inning when they scored nine of their 19 runs in the game. Kallie Finkbeiner and Josie Caye each hit a home run for Polson.

Winning Lady Pirate pitcher Lauren Vergeront struck out seven of the 17 batters she faced.

In a two-game home stand on Friday, the Lady Pirates blanked the visiting Corvallis Lady Blue Devils 10-0. Savanna Carpentier, Caye and Orien each had home runs.

The night cap was a three-inning affair as the Lady Pirates shut out the Browning Lady Indians 20-0.

Druyvestein paced the Lady Pirates at the plate going two-for-two with a single, home run and four RBIs.

Ronan Maidens

On Monday, April 29, the Ronan Maidens routed the visiting Browning Lady Indians 16-1 in Northwest A action. Ronan pitcher Macao Jackson picked up the win and led the Maidens at the plate going three-for-three with three RBIs.

Battling another Northwest A conference opponent on Thursday, the Maidens fell 10-7 to the visiting Columbia Fall Wildkats. Emilie Corley and Jackson led the Maidens at the plate going two-for-four and hitting a double.

Mission-Arlee-Charlo

The MAC swept Anaconda in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 30, at home. On Thursday, they defeated the defending state champs Florence Lady Falcons on the road 16-15. MAC finished their weekend on the road with doubleheader split in Plains on Friday evening and a 10-0 blanking of Deer Lodge on Saturday. There were no other detailed stats provided by the coaching staff by press deadline.

 

Track and Field

On Saturday, during the Archie Roe track meet held at Legends Stadium in Kalispell, Polson Lady Pirate Bea Frissell found success in the 18-team field, placing second in the 3200 by posting a time of 11:13.13 and third in the 800 with a time of 2:23.32.

For Ronan, James Normandeau finished with a time of 2:01.46 in the 800 for second, while teammate Landon Lynch finished within two-top five finishes, placing second in the shot put (43-09.75) and fourth in the discus (127-06.50).

The Charlo Lady Vikings found success once more on the track during the 24-team Kim L. Hines memorial track meet in Missoula, held at the MCPS Stadium on Saturday. Senior Lady Viking Kaitlin Cox broke a meet record in the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet and 11.25 inches and posted a personal best of 16 feet and 10 inches in the long jump that garnered her a first-place finish. Cox also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.

Teammate sophomore Carlee Fryberger posted three top-five finishes during the meet. Fryberger placed first in the 200-meter dash (27.04), first in the 100-meter hurdles (15.76) and fourth in the triple jump (32-11.75).

Recording top-five finishes for the Lady Vikings were Guinevere Contreras with third place in the 3200 (13:32.38), Allie Delaney second in the 300-meter (50.19) and Tyrah Hammond with fourth place in the pole vault (8-00). The Lady Vikings placed second in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Arlee’s Peyton Lammerding posted first place in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet and 4.50 inches.

For the Mission Lady Bulldogs, Karolyna Buck paced the pack with a time of 13:19.25 in the 3200 for the win, while Addison Arlint snagged a third in the discus (104-04) and Afton Brander grabbed a second in the high jump (4-10.00).

Also for the Lady Bulldogs, Sydney Brander picked up fourth in the long jump (15-08.50) and a third in the triple jump (33-04.00).

On the boy’s side of the track, Charlo Viking Landers Smith placed first in the pole vault with a score of 11 feet, while Viking Wills DeGrandpre finished second in the 1600 (4:36.16) and third in the 3200 (10:49.00).

 

Baseball

In Babe Ruth action, the Mission Valley Rockies defeated the Missoula Big Sky Eagles on the road in a doubleheader on Saturday, 11-7 and 11-2. On Sunday, in their home opener, the Rockies out-scored the visiting Arlee Warriors 10-0 and 13-3 in doubleheader action.
