Editor,

Two years ago, the Polson Beautification Committee was discussing potential new projects. It was decided that more flowers on the island at the intersection of Highways 35 and 93 would be a colorful welcome for visitors and community members driving by.

Last year, with community donations and lots of planning and help by Wes and Twila Delaney, the irrigation system was updated and the flowers were put in place. Bark chips had already been donated by Gwen and Rod McRae. We have received lots of positive community feedback that the flowers did their job of making the intersection a happier spot and would like to do it again.

If you would like to help purchase new flowers for the 2019 season, send a donation to the Greater Polson Community Foundation, PO Box 314, Polson, MT 59860 with a note that it is for “Island Flowers.”

Committee volunteers also maintain the downtown bump-outs and work on other projects. If you have an idea to make Polson more beautiful, we would like to hear it. If you have some time to help, we can always use another pair of hands.

Polson is our home and we are proud of it and the work that people do to make it a better place. If you see an improvement that a business or homeowner has done, let them know you appreciate their effort.

Thanks very much to everyone who participated in the GPCF annual Beautification Committee Clean Up! Green Up! Let’s keep our paths and roadways beautiful.
