POLSON – Competitors young and old had a chance to test their table tennis skills while having a little fun on Saturday afternoon during the inaugural valley-wide table tennis tournament hosted by Mission Valley Christian Academy in its main gymnasium in Polson.

“This is great,” said spectator Susen Villegas who was there in support of family members. “Most people are not aware of this whole new community that plays ping pong.”

A little more than a dozen participants squared off in a friendly, albeit competitive, game of table tennis for bragging rights and other prizes. The tournament also provided newer players a unique opportunity to learn and expand on their skills with the ball and paddle.

Christian Academy principal and event co-organizer Andrew Russell noted that he would like to see this tournament develop into an annual event.

Tom Maxwell defeated Joe Quinones for the tournament championship, while Andrew Russell finished in third place, and Dennis Villegas placed fourth.
