Golf

Lady Pirate golfer Cali Cannon placed fifth and grabbed All-State honors during the two-day Class A state golf tournament held at the Laurel Golf Club. Cannon carded a 98 on Thursday and shot a 91 on Friday for a two-day total of 189, while teammate Ellie Thiel also earned All-State accolades by shooting a ninth-place 197. Cannon and Thiel were joined by Esme Yarbrough and Carly Garrick as the Lady Pirate quartet placed sixth in the overall team standings.

The Ronan Maiden golf team of Macao Jackson, Madyson Running Crane, Kylee Niemeyer, Alyssa Pretty On Top and Aaliyah Decker finished ninth in the team standings. Jackson was the top Maiden individual golfer with a score of 218.

Pirate golfer Trey Kelley received All-State honors by placing tenth overall in the boys individual standings with an 80-85-165 score. 

Ruben Couture scored a team-leading 101-110-211 for the Ronan Chiefs.

 

Football

Mission Bulldogs

On Friday night, the Mission Bulldogs corralled the visiting Ennis Mustangs 51-8 in non-conference class C action. Bulldog Kellen McClure found the end zone three times by passing touchdowns to Charley Adams and twice to Jedi Christy. Isaac Dumontier, Troy Matt and Layne Spidel each had a rushing touchdown. The win moves the Bulldogs to a 5-1 record on the season.

Ronan Chiefs

The Ronan Chiefs notched their first win on the season in front of the home crowd on Friday by beating the visiting Stevensville Yellowjackets 48-26.

Polson Pirates

In a class A non-conference matchup on Friday, the Polson Pirates were defeated 42-0 by the visiting Frenchtown Broncs. With the loss, the Pirates move to a season record of 3-2.

Arlee Warriors

The Flint Creek Titans defeated the visiting Arlee Warriors 56-12 on Friday. For the Warriors, quarterback Nathaniel Coulson scored two touchdowns with one on an eight-yard run and the other on a 21-yard pass to Cody Tanner.

Charlo Vikings

Charlo Viking quarterback Wrangler Gaustad threw for two touchdowns on Friday night in a 52-14 loss to Clark Fork. Gaustad sent Roper Edwards a five-yard pass and Isaiah Allik a 19-yard pass. 

 

Volleyball

Polson Lady Pirates

It was a five-set marathon Saturday afternoon as the Polson Lady Pirates defeated the Ronan Maidens 25-19, 24-26, 17-25, 25-19, 19-17. Misty Tenas (14) and Maggie Todd (12) teamed up for 26 kills for the Lady Pirates, while Ara Mercer had a team-high 18 digs.

Ronan Maidens

The visiting Stevensville Lady Yellowjackets stung the Ronan Maidens 3-2 in a five-set match on Thursday. The Maidens fell 25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 25-19, 8-15. Madeline McCrea had 16 kills, Hannah Rowe had 15 assists, Regan Clairmont had 21 digs and Madison Clairmont lead with three aces.

Mission Lady Bulldogs

On Saturday, the Mission Lady Bulldogs battled to a 25-19, 27-25, 11-25, 25-18 win over visiting Loyola.  Lady Bulldog Sydney Brander paced the pack with 14 kills and 15 digs. River Gonzalez had 21 digs, and Hunter Eichert contributed with 32 assists.

Arlee Scarlets

The Arlee Scarlets fell on the road 11-25,9-25,13-25 to Florence on Thursday. Saige Koetter floored five kills, and Emily Fiddler posted 13 digs. In a home match on Saturday against Deer Lodge, Fiddler collected 24 digs as the Scarlets fell 19-25, 23-25, 11-25.

Charlo Lady Vikings

Sisters Carly and Connor Fryberger each had 14 digs as the Charlo Lady Vikings defeated Clark Fork 25-11, 25-15, 25-11. Liev Smith led the Lady Vikings in kills with 10, while Kassidy Cox served up four aces, and Connor Fryberger chipped in with 21 assists. 

 

Soccer

Polson Pirates

A Kaden Nelson goal off a Landin Becker assist was the only score on Thursday as the Polson Pirates fell 2-1 on the road to the Columbia Falls Wildcats.

Polson Lady Pirates

On Thursday, the Polson Lady Pirates fell to the hosting Columbia Falls Wildkats 2-1. Sophia Moderie scored the lone point for the Lady Pirates. The Lady Pirates rebounded from a road loss earlier in the week with a 4-2 road win in Libby on Saturday. Moderie scored two goals on the day, while Ali Hupka and Autumn Burland each scored a goal.=

 

Cross Country

Ronan Chief James Normandeau crossed the finish line in 16:20 to take the boys individual title during the Mission Valley Duels held at the Silver Fox Golf Course in Pablo on Saturday.

Rounding out the top 25 boy finishers from Mission Valley area schools were Brant Heiner of Ronan in fourth, Michael Irvine of Ronan in tenth, Mason Sloan of Polson in 11th, Zarec Couture of Ronan in 12th, Kellen Norman of Polson in 13th, Isaiah Nasewytewa of Mission placed 23rd and Zoran LaFrombois of Mission who grabbed the 25th spot.

Top 25 girl runners from the valley were Ronan Maiden Analeta Yellow Bird with a fifth-place time of 20:52 minutes followed by Karli Owens of Polson in 11th and Halle Heninger of Polson in 13th. Gwen Seeley of Polson slipped into the 21st spot, while Ashtyn Wagner of Polson placed 22nd, and River Shoemake of Polson nabbed 24th.
