Volleyball

Polson Lady Pirates

In Northwest A action, the Polson Lady Pirates fell in straight sets on the road 11-25, 11-25, 11-25 to Columbia Falls on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Lena Pawloski (six) and Berkley Ellis (five) combined for 11 of the Lady Pirates’ 13 assists, while Ara Mercer had 14 digs and Maggie Todd posted five kills.

On Thursday, the Lady Pirates battled the visiting Whitefish Lady Bulldogs to a five-set 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 10-25, 14-16 loss. Todd had seven kills and three blocks for the Lady Pirates, while Mercer (26) and Pawloski (14) combined for 40 digs. 

Charlo Lady Vikings

The Charlo Lady Vikings won back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday against Plains and Lincoln, finishing the season as District 14C Volleyball Champions with a 8-0 district record and a 15-1 overall record.

Mission Lady Bulldogs

Maysa Couture served five aces and Hunter Eichert had all 26 team assists as the Mission Lady Bulldogs fell 18-25, 16-25, 25-21, 19-25 to Florence Tuesday, Oct. 22, in a Class B road game. For the Lady Bulldogs, Sydney Brander had 12 kills and River Gonzalez had 19 digs. On the road Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs swept Bigfork in three straight sets 25-19, 25-18, 25-21. Brander (13) and Karolyna Buck (12) floored 25 of the Lady Bulldogs 34 total kills. Eichert contributed 33 assists and three aces.

Arlee Scarlets

On Saturday, Emily Fiddler had six kills and 25 digs for the Arlee Scarlets in a 15-25, 10-25, 8-25 road loss to the Eureka Lady Lions. Hallie Adams posted nine of the Scarlets 14 blocks.

 

Football

Mission Bulldogs

It’s now the postseason for the 8-1 Mission Bulldogs after they wrapped up the regular season on the road Friday evening with a 50-26 win over the Darby Tigers. Scoring two touchdowns each for the Bulldogs were Bryce Umphrey and Isaac Dumontier. Layne Spidel rushed for a touchdown and Kellen McClure teamed up with Charley Adams for a passing touchdown. Troy Matt broke a 78-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, and on defense, Kolten Gardipee snagged an interception for a touchdown. On Saturday, the Bulldogs travel to Park City to take on the 7-1 Panthers in the first round of the Class C eight-man football playoffs.

Arlee Warriors

Colt Crawford caught a 63-yard touchdown pass and ran for a 24-yard touchdown for the Arlee Warriors in their season finale on Friday. The Warriors fell to the visiting undefeated Clark Fork Mountain Cats 60-12 and wrapped up the season with a 2-7 overall record.

Polson Pirates

Polson Pirate senior quarterback Bo Kelley threw touchdown passes to Ryker Wenderoth, Jarrett Wilson and Dugan Davis on Friday in a 57-18 home loss to Hamilton. After finishing the 2018 campaign winless, the 2019 Pirates improved under first-year head coach Kaden Glinsmann with a 4-5 overall record.

Ronan Chiefs

The Ronan Chiefs came up short on the road in a 26-20 loss to the Corvallis Blue Devils on Friday. The game against the Blue Devils was the last game of the season for the Chiefs who finished the season with a 1-8 overall record.
