PABLO – Mission/Charlo wrestler Isaiah Allik took the individual title at 170 pounds on Saturday during the 44th Annual Owen Invitational held on the Salish Kootenai College campus in the Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center.

Entering the title match undefeated, Allik, a senior at Charlo High School, won by decision over Noah Hurst (Hamilton High School) with a score of 13-8.

The Mission/Charlo wrestling program finished fifth with 143 points and sent six grapplers into the championship brackets during the two-day 20-team event.

“We had a lot of outstanding performances from our seniors the last couple of days,” said Mission/Charlo wrestling head coach Lyle Cronk. “Overall, we did a pretty good job. Being the first time out this year, we have a lot of things to work on but that is what is great about this tournament: it’s a good barometer. We get to come out and compete with the best teams and see where we are at.”

For Mission/Charlo, Walker Murphy placed sixth in the 126-pound bracket, while Isaac DuMontier nabbed third place in the 145-pound class with a pin win over Gage Meyer (Belgrade High School). Troy Matt finished fourth in the 182-pound class, and Miles Anderson grabbed sixth place at 205.

Wrestling in the 152-pound division, Darwin Adams reached the finals but fell to Trey Thompson (Libby High School) by a 6-3 decision in the title bout.

Tournament host Polson Pirates finished 13th in the team standings with 82 points. Pirate wrestler Braedon Illif defeated Scott Richards (Belgrade High School) by fall for fifth place in the 103-pound- weight class, while Kedrick Baker earned fourth in the 126-pound bracket.

As a team, the Ronan Chiefs scored 32 points, finishing in 18th place.

Mission Valley wrestlers will be on the road Friday and Saturday as the Polson and Ronan squads head to Butte for the Mining City duals. The Arlee and Mission/Charlo teams attend the Bob Kinney Classic Wrestling tournament in Superior.
