Mission Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs

Playing in the District 7-B tournament in Libby this past weekend, both the Mission Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs advanced into the Western B Divisional Tournament starting on Thursday in Hamilton.

With a late fourth-quarter rally, the Bulldogs nearly claimed the 7-B tournament championship on Saturday but had to settle for second place falling 49-41 to the Eureka Lions. Jedi Christy scored a game- high 14 points for the Bulldogs. 

The Bulldogs advanced to the championship round by tripping up the Bigfork Vikings 47-44 in the semifinals on Friday evening. Christy led the Bulldogs with 15 points, while Zoran LaFrombois and Isaiah Nasewytewa both posted 12 points apiece in the win.

On the girls’ side of the court, the Lady Bulldogs finished fourth in the tournament falling 63-51 to Thompson Falls on Friday and 53-25 to the Bigfork Valkyries in the consolation round. Azia Umphrey led the Lady Bulldogs in both games scoring nine points against Bigfork and a game-high 21 points against Thompson Falls.

Two Eagle River Eagles and Lady Eagles

The seasons for both the Eagles and Lady Eagles came to an end in Ronan this weekend during the 14C District tournament. The Eagles opened the tournament with Michael Brown scoring a game-high 24 points in a 57-51 win over Noxon on Thursday evening. On Friday, a 77-44 loss to St. Regis knocked the Eagles into the Saturday’s loser-out bracket where they fell 77-55 to the Charlo Vikings. The Lady Eagles ended their season with a 53-13 loss to Plains on Friday and a 48-36 loss to Noxon on Saturday morning.

Arlee Warriors 

The Arlee Warriors finished in fourth-place during the District 6-B tournament in Missoula and will advance into the Western B Divisional Tournament starting on Thursday in Hamilton. The Warriors entered the tournament by defeating Florence 86-79 in a play-in game on Monday. In tournament action, the Warriors fell 64-55 to Deer Lodge on Thursday and 72-61 to Loyola in the consolation round on Saturday.

Charlo Vikings 

The Charlo Vikings wrapped up the 2019-2020 season with a fourth-place 14C District tournament finish on Saturday in Ronan. Charlo opened the tournament with a 55-47 loss to Hot Springs but rebounded on Saturday morning with a 77-55 win over Two Eagle River Eagles. 

Against the Eagles, Dawson Dumont scored a career-high 30 points. Charlo fell 45-35 as they faced Hot Springs once again in the consolation round on Saturday afternoon. 

Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates

In the final home game of the season on Saturday evening, the visiting Northwestern A conference- leading Browning Indians narrowly escaped with a 69-66 win over the Pirates. 

The Pirates were led by four players in double figures. Xavier Fisher led the way with 15 points followed by Colton Graham with 11 points and Anton Lefthand and Beau Kelley who had 10 points apiece.

The Pirates finish the season with an overall season record of 11-7 and a berth to the Western A Divisional Tournament in Ronan starting on Thursday.
