Many of you may be missing our many children’s activities while we collectively work to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within our wonderful community. We have certainly been missing you! We look forward with great anticipation to the day when we may safely resume our routine weekly programs, including Mother Goose and Makerspace on Mondays, Wiggle Worms on Wednesdays, and our first and third Friday Fun days. Unfortunately, that day remains up in the air as we consider all official recommendations from the CDC and federal government, the Governor’s Office and DPHHS, as well as the advice of Lake County Public Health and the local authorities. While we wait as a community, your library and its staff remain committed to offering quality resources and services for those looking after children. One place to look is on our library’s newly-updated Digital Resources page, which includes links to a number of useful resources for all ages. Teens and undergraduates may find some great materials at the Open Textbook Library, while students and educators from preschool through graduate level studies should definitely take a look at the fantastic Open Educational Resources Commons. There are also a number of e-books available for all ages through Libby and Overdrive.

Please also follow us on Facebook as we frequently update our feed with original content, recommendations, and short videos. We will also be sharing other high-quality digital resources there and on our website as we ourselves discover them. Nothing can truly replace the joy of welcoming you to our library programs in person, but you can look forward to seeing our list of available digital resources expand as we figure out how best to offer our very own digital story times and literacy activities for you to enjoy. We will update our Facebook and website when these options go live.

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity, flexibility, and support expressed by our library users and the community at large as we all weather this time of uncertainty. Thank you all for being there for your library; we look forward, as always, to being there for you and your kids, too.
