Linderman gym construction project progressing

POLSON – Construction is continuing to progress forward toward a winter 2020 completion of the gymnasium located on the west side of Linderman Elementary School.
On Friday afternoon, Rex Weltz, superintendent of Polson School District, released a status update concerning the project. He said construction continues on a somewhat limited basis due to the COVID-19 virus and that construction crews are following social-distancing protocols and are monitoring and adapting as necessary to the ever-changing situation.
Travelers Insurance Company is covering the estimated $4.2 million project replacement cost of the gym as an insurance claim. The multi-phase construction project is currently in its second phase, which includes pouring the foundation, placement of the structures’ support beams and assembly of the roof and walls.
The press release further explained that storm-water retention construction and pouring the concrete walls of the elevator pit are scheduled this week, weather permitting. About seven truckloads of structural steel are scheduled to be delivered to the building site within the next couple weeks.
The first phase, which was completed in early fall, featured the demolition, cleanup and debris removal of the nearly 70-year-old Linderman gymnasium. The gym had been closed for nearly two years due to damage to the roof that was sustained during a severe snowstorm.
Phase three will consists of interior work, including putting up scoreboards, baskets and backboards. Bleachers and lockers will also be installed.
