POLSON – Construction work on the Linderman Elementary School gymnasium is ongoing despite social restrictions due to COVID-19 as well as weather setbacks.

Officials for the Polson School District report that they are adhering to guidelines made by local, state and federal governments to continue the construction work at the school’s gymnasium. Crews are disinfecting tools and utilizing hand-sanitizing stations throughout the construction site. Staggering work schedules is also being done with a maximum of ten workers on site at any given moment.

Intermittent rainstorms have caused some delays as welders work to make headway on the main steel structure. Workers in recent weeks have completed the installation of the facility’s concrete structural foundation and small concrete footings around the elevator pit.

This week, truckloads of brick and steel rebar are scheduled to be delivered for masonry work. Plumbers are scheduled to be on site this week as well.

The project is estimated to cost $4.2 million and is being paid for through an insurance claim with Travelers Insurance Company. The claim was made after the roof collapsed in January of 2018. The project is expected to be finished in the early fall of 2021.

Weekly progress reports can be followed online by visiting the district’s website at https://www.polson.k12.mt.us/community/linderman-gym-updates.
