News from UCC

The Lake County-CSKT Unified Command Center applauds everyone in the community for getting tested at the mass testing events.

The final numbers show that 2,486 tests were done over three-and-a-half days. The numbers by event: Arlee, 475; Pablo 1,013; Polson (rain-shortened) 532; and Elmo 466. This represents nearly 10 percent of the entire local population.

“We want to thank the National Guard, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, St. Luke Community Healthcare, Kalispell Regional Medical Center, Lake County Public Health, CSKT Tribal Health, Flathead Reservation Community Action, the Lake County Census Complete Count Committee and the state and federal Census workers volunteering on site,” Greg Gould, event operations chief. “Thanks also to Gov. Steve Bullock and his staff, Polson High School, the Arlee and Standing Arrow powwow committees, Salish Kootenai College and the Montana, Lake County and CSKT Disaster and Emergency Services teams. Without this amazing collaborative effort, it would not have been nearly as successful.”

The UCC team has some public health superstars who make this work look easy. “Our community can be proud for helping a complicated event like this come off with very few hitches,” Gould said. “A little less rain and lightning would have been nice, but you can’t have everything. Thank you to everyone. Our community is safer, and you have provided your dedicated medical staff with the best data possible to find COVID-19. I, for one, am proud to live here.”
