A Dayton man was committed at District Court in Polson on Sept. 23 to the Montana Department of Corrections for 10 years with five years suspended for violating conditions of probation on a criminal endangerment conviction in 2018.

Orli Bitsinni, 21, was initially charged with sexual intercourse without consent for having sex with a 13-year-old girl at a house party in Pablo June 10, 2018. The girl ended up committing suicide rendering the case more difficult to prosecute, and the rape charge was reduced to criminal endangerment. Sentencing for Bitsinni was deferred for a period of three years, and he served five days in jail.

Bitsinni violated terms of his agreement when he was recently convicted of misdemeanor partner or family member assault for assaulting his girlfriend on Feb. 26. He was initially charged with felony strangulation of a partner or family member but entered a plea agreement that reduced thecharge to the misdemeanor. He was also ordered to attend 40 hours of a batterers intervention program.

Judge James Manley recommended Bitsinni be screened for mental healthtreatment while serving his time with the DOC.
