With the continual increase in COVID-19 cases in Lake and surrounding counties, we have taken a few stricter measures to help protect our staff and patrons and to help keep us open. We are asking everyone to keep their visit to 30 minutes or less. For those needing to do essential work on a computer, we are allowing up to one hour in our study rooms. Essential work would include things like filing for unemployment, writing a resume, taking an exam, or doing work for your job. We are monitoring traffic and trying to keep the number of patrons in the building at one time to no more than 10. Masks have always been required in the building and must be worn at all times over the nose and mouth. If you cannot or prefer not to wear a mask, curbside pickup is available. Please, if you are sick, have been exposed to anyone who has tested positive, if you have tested positive, or if you are in quarantine, do not enter the building. You can call the library to make arrangements for curbside pickup, home or mail delivery. We also ask that you not return items until you are cleared; we can easily renew all materials for you or you can renew them online or through Shoutbomb.

Are you ready for holiday shopping? Did you know the library has a great little gift nook with many literary inspired gifts? Our gift nook items will be on sale at 20 percent off beginning on Black Friday, Nov. 27 and continuing into December. Stop in and take a look. We’re sure you will find a great gift or stocking stuffer for the book-lover in your life while supporting library services with each purchase.

Freegal has extended their 24/7 streaming through the end of the year. You can stream and download over 16 million songs and music videos for free with no ads. There are over 600,000 big name artists, over 200 different genres of music from 100 different countries. If you’re feeling crafty this holiday season, check out CreativeBug for all kinds of instructional videos for a multitude of various crafts. All of this is free with your free library card. Also, Kanopy has just added hundreds of series from A&E and the History Channel available to view for one credit and a 72-hour viewing period. Get ready to binge watch.

Don’t forget about our mobile Wi-Fi hotspots, funded in part with LSTA funding from the IMLS and administered by the Montana State Library. These are great to take in the car for your drive over the river and through the woods. You can connect multiple devices to just one hotspot, so the whole family can enjoy on their own device.
