Boys Basketball

Polson Pirates

Jarrett Wilson scored a game-high nine points and Colton Graham chipped in six points as the Polson Pirates out played the visiting Hamilton Broncs 30-29 on Thursday evening.

On the road Saturday afternoon, the Pirates outscored the Columbia Fall Wildcats 81-49 in a  Northwestern A conference matchup. 

Mission Bulldogs

Scoring a season-high 37 points on Tuesday, Jan. 5, Zoran LaFrombois led the Mission Bulldogs to a 71-57 victory over the hosting Eureka Lions. On Friday evening, the visiting Thompson Falls Blue Hawks outlasted the Bulldogs 59-57. LaFrombois scored a game-high 26 points for the Bulldogs. Cedrick McDonald netted 12 points, while Ross McPherson chipped in 10 points. In a 62-27 non-conference win over the visiting Plains Horsemen, Isaiah Nasewytewa scored a game-high 12 points. Kellen McClure and LaFrombois each had 10 points. 

Charlo Vikings

Friday evening on the road, Roper Edwards scored 14 points and Phil Marquez netted 13 points leading the Charlo Vikings to a 60-46 14C district win over the Plains Horsemen.

Ronan Chiefs

On the road Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Ronan Chiefs slipped past the Hamilton Broncs 40-39. Playing once again on the road Thursday evening, the Chiefs picked up their third consecutive win on the young season with a 57-50 victory over the Corvallis Blue Devils.

Arlee Warriors

The Florence Falcons defeated the hosting Arlee Warriors on Thursday night by a score of 68-51.

 

Girls Basketball

Ronan Maidens

In a Class A non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Ronan Maidens fell 39-29 to the visiting Hamilton Lady Broncs. On Thursday, the Maidens notched their first victory of the season with a 48-41 win over the visiting Corvallis Lady Blue Devils. 

Polson Lady Pirates

The Polson Lady Pirates opened their 2021 season Thursday, Jan. 7, on the road against the Hamilton Lady Broncs. The Lady Broncs prevailed 60-25 over the Lady Pirates. Saturday’s home opener against the Columbia Falls WildKats was canceled due to a Lady Pirate testing positive for COVID-19. The whole program has been placed on COVID-19 quarantine protocol until further notice.  

Mission Lady Bulldogs

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the visiting Eureka Lady Lions slipped past the Mission Lady Bulldogs 60-56. Lady Bulldog Sydney Brander notched a team-high 21 points. Madyson Currie and Kooper Page scored 11 points each. 

The Lady Bulldogs fell 66-49 to the hosting Thompson Falls Lady Blue Hawks on Friday evening. Scoring a game-high 15 points, Page led four Lady Bulldogs in double-digit scoring. The Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 70-37 road win over the Plains Trotters on Saturday. Also for the Lady Bulldogs, Brander booked 14 points, Currie posted 10 points and Izzy Evans scored 10 points.

Charlo Lady Vikings

In a 14C District matchup on Thursday, the Charlo Lady Vikings ran past the hosting Plains Trotters 51-11. Lady Viking Conner Fryberger scored a game-high 10 points leading nine other Lady Viking scorers.

Arlee Scarlets 

On Thursday night in a Class B conference matchup, the visiting Florence Falcons outscored the Arlee Scarlets 68-51.

 

Wrestling

Polson Pirates

The hosting Polson Pirates went 1-1 in dual matches on Tuesday, Jan. 5. The Pirates opened with a 42-30 loss to Corvallis then rebounded in the second match with a 42-36 win over Whitefish.

Maysn Cowell (126) led the Pirates with pins in both matches. Ryley Knutson (103), Tyler Otto (285), Micah Craig (120) and Logan Adler (170) all had pin wins. On Saturday, the Pirates split matches with Columbia Falls and Thompson Falls in Corvallis. Polson upended Thompson Falls 42-24 after Polson lost 51-24 to Columbia Falls.

Ronan Chiefs

On Friday evening, the Ronan Chiefs wrestled back-to-back dual match victories and defeated the visiting Browning team 36-21 and Libby 42-30. Daniel Bishop (170) led the Chiefs on the mat with a pin win and an 11-8 decision win over Tucker Masters of Libby. Earning pin wins for the Chiefs were Donavin Brown (152), James Kenelty (126) and Julian Strait (152). 

Mission Bulldogs

The Mission Bulldogs battled the Clark Fork Mountain Cats in Superior on Thursday evening.
