Boys Basketball

Polson Pirates

The Polson Pirates maintained their top seed ranking in the Northwestern A boys basketball standings with a 64-47 conference home win over the Columbia Falls Wildcats on Thursday. Colton Graham scored a game-high 26 points for the Pirates. Xavier Fisher scored 13 points. The Pirates move to an overall 8-1 record on the season.

Charlo Vikings

Stetson Reum netted a season- and game-high 25 points to lead the Charlo Vikings past the visiting Hot Springs Savage Heat 59-48 on Thursday evening. Keaton Piedalue and Roper Edwards each scored 15 points. On Saturday, the Vikings moved to an overall record of 6-4 on the season with a 60-44 road loss to the Alberton Superior MountainCats. Reum paced the Vikings with 15 points followed by Phil Marquez with 12 points.

Mission Bulldogs

Mission Bulldogs boys basketball lost 61-59 Thursday on the road against the Bigfork Vikings. The Bulldogs were down by 10 points at the half. They outscored the Vikings, 36-28, in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to take the win. Zoran LaFrombois scored a Bulldog team-high 22 points. Isaiah Nasewytewa scored 11 points. On Saturday, the Bulldogs slipped past visiting the Arlee Warriors 56-50. LaFrombois led all scorers with 25 points. Also for the 9-4 Bulldogs, Kellen McClure chipped in 10 points.

Ronan Chiefs

Leonard Burke put up a game-high 15 points to lead the Ronan Chiefs to a 71-32 victory on Tuesday, Feb. 2, over the visiting Arlee Warriors. Sage Coffman and Girma Detwiler each added 10 points for the Chiefs. Tuesday’s home victory moves the Chiefs to a 7-3 overall record on the season.

 

Girls Basketball

Charlo Lady Vikings

At home on Thursday, the Charlo Lady Vikings defeated the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat 58-15. Hayleigh Smith scored a game-high 13 points. On Saturday, the Lady Vikings moved to a perfect record of 10-0 on the season with a 51-31 District 14C road win over the Alberton-Superior Lady MountainCats. Kassidi Cox scored a season- and game-high 17 points for the Lady Vikings followed by Connor Fryberger with 10 points.

Polson Lady Pirates 

In a make-up game Tuesday, Feb. 2, the Polson Lady Pirates nearly booked their first win of the season in a 34-32 loss to the hosting Libby Lady Loggers. McKenna Hanson and Mossy Kauley both led the Lady Pirates in scoring with seven points apiece. On the road Thursday, the Columbia Falls Wildkats ran past the Lady Pirates 60-11. Jazlyn Dalbey, Megan Rost and Turquoise Pierre each scored a team-high three points.

Ronan Maidens

Jaylea Lunceford scored a game-high 12 points, while LaReina Cordova and Areanna Burke both chipped in 10 points to lead the Ronan Maidens on Tuesday, Feb. 2, to a 60-14 road win over the Arlee Scarlets. On Thursday, the Maidens moved to an overall season record of 7-4 in a 58-51 Northwestern A conference road loss to the Browning Lady Indians. Burke paced the Maidens with 15 points.

Mission Lady Bulldogs

On Thursday, the Mission Lady Bulldog sstumbled on the road 52-41 to the Bigfork Valkyries. Madyson Currie scored a Lady Bulldog team-high 12 points. Sydney Brander scored 11 points.

In a non-conference matchup on Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs defeated the hosting Arlee Scarlets 77-30. Brander scored a game-high 17 points. Currie scored 13 points. Gabby Smith, Izzy Evans and Kooper Page each scored 11 points.

 

Wrestling

Ronan Chiefs

Frenchtown hosted a triangular meet on Thursday. The Ronan Chiefs fell 45-16 to Frenchtown and 45-27 to the Libby/Troy co-op squad. Beaudean Decker (132) nabbed a pin win, while Landon Bishop (138), Tristan Fisher (182) and Jasen Rodda (205) each nabbed wins by decision against Frenchtown. 

In the match against Libby/Troy, Bishop grabbed a win by decision, while Fisher and Caleb Cheff (145) each notched wins by pin. 

Hosting a five-team event on Saturday, the Chiefs came away with two victories by defeating Beaverhead County (Dillon / Twin Bridges / Sheridan) 43-23 and Stevensville / Victor 46-26. 

Against Beaverhead County, Max Morency (285), Bishop and Fisher each booked pin wins. In the match victory, Stevi, Bishop, Cheff and Morency posted wins by pin.

Mission/Charlo Bulldogs

In Whitefish Saturday, the Mission/Charlo Bulldogs fell 48-15 to the Whitefish Bulldogs. Charlie Adams (145) picked up a pin win. Canyon Sargent (152) earned a 14-8 decision win over his Whitefish opponent.

Polson Pirates

On Tuesday, Feb. 2, the Polson Pirates split matches against visiting Whitefish and East Helena. The Pirates defeated East Helena 54-18 and fell 60-18 to the Whitefish Bulldogs. Against Whitefish, the Pirates picked up points by three forfeits. Cole Cross (113), Gavin Knutson (126), Caleb Pierre (152), Michael Pierre (160) and Abel Kimmel (170) posted pin wins against East Helena.
